Meet Our 2016 Summer Intern: Leslie Diedrich
Meet Leslie Diedrich, Global Work’s 2016 Summer Intern. Leslie comes to use with a background in teaching and travel, and looks forward to sharing these passions with Global Works. Originally from Billings, MT, Leslie grew up hiking in the Rocky Mountains. Once it was time for college, she knew there was more of the US to explore, so she moved to Minnesota to attend St. Olaf College. While in undergrad, she studied abroad multiple times; running the ancient Olympic stade race in Greece, sailing down the Bosphorus in Turkey, sipping delicious mint tea with her host family in Morocco, and climbing inside the Great Pyramid of Khufu in Egypt are just some of her outstanding memories. Leslie graduated with a BA in Social Studies Education, and then made plans to live abroad.
She moved to Chiang Mai, Thailand where she taught English for 2 years at Chiang Mai University. While living in the land of smiles, she indulged in delectable food, practiced her Thai with street vendors and grew to love the rich and beautiful culture Thailand exudes. Leslie’s next move took her to Kodaikanal, India where she taught Social Studies at Kodaikanal International School. Living in India made her appreciate all she is fortunate enough to have while she built lifelong friendships and, of course, explored the culinary smells and tastes of India. In her 3 years abroad, Leslie traveled to countless countries including Myanmar, Nepal and Malaysia. Now living in Denver, CO Leslie is excited to bring her love of adventure to Global Works and looks forward to helping everyone ‘Travel with Purpose.’
