Meet Our 2017 Ambassadors: Kellyanne is headed to Nicaragua!
Kellyann spent her first six years living in Long Island, New York, with her family. Currently, she is a sophomore at New Hope-Solebury High School in New Hope, Pennsylvania. She is always looking for ways to get out of her comfort zone and eagerly accepts challenges, which is why she is incredibly excited to become a Global Works Ambassador to document her upcoming trip to Nicaragua.
Throughout the school year, she dedicates her time to a demanding course load while also balancing many athletics and clubs. As an AP and honors student, Kellyann takes on the challenge of school by working hard in her classes including AP U.S. History, Honors English, Honors Chemistry and other demanding courses. She is also very involved outside of school with her athletics. During the fall season, she can be found on the court with her high school volleyball team or on the Delaware River rowing in her 8-person shell to prepare for the season’s regattas. She loves spending weekends in the mountains skiing! The past three years she was on the competitive ski race team and often broke her personal records. This winter she is working as an Associate Ski Instructor, and is eager to pass along the love she has picked up for this winter sport to others.
When she is not at school studying or involved in her athletics, she stays involved in the school community through the various clubs including: Model United Nations, Key Club, Reading Olympics, and Odyssey of the Mind. At the end of Kellyann’s freshman year she founded a babysitting group to help out with the Special Education Committee Meetings, it has proven successful and now Kellyann is the point person for this program through the Key Club. As the officer in charge of the activity, she coordinates volunteers to help during the meetings to babysit the parent’s children. She has also helped her school’s Model United Nations Club grow and was offered the position as secretary this year. Over the past four years Kellyann participated in Odyssey of the Mind, which has been a life-changing experience. She used to be insecure and quiet, but through the support of her team, she has evolved into someone who is willing to take risks, to put herself out there, and is determined to put other’s interests before her own. Along with her participation in rowing, skiing, volleyball, and other after school activities, Kellyann enjoys playing the violin, as she has since she was four years old. She also enjoys sailing with her parents, taking bike rides and hikes, and baking. As a Global Ambassador, Kellyann hopes which will help her spread her passion for the medical field, as well as, her determination to help others, and hopes to inspire others to follow in her path to partake in this once in a lifetime opportunity.
